Leighton Safe Essentials is a promotional campaign. It features project personnel and reinforces the importance of workplace safety to our families. We want all of our people to return home - happy, healthy and safe.
Fall Prevention Program
A tailored Fall Prevention Coordinators course has been developed to train key personnel in working from heights and fall prevention strategies. Audit and inspection schedules have been developed targeting the hazards associated with working from heights.
Mobile Plant Program
In 2005/06, Leighton Contractors collaborated with Conplant and Abigroup, our joint venture partner on the Westlink M7, to develop the world’s first compacting roller with ‘ROPS 2’ technology. This “Roll Over Protection System” has applications across a wide range of mobile plant internationally, and has the potential to become a world standard. Similarly, Leighton Contractors and Rio Tinto (Pilbara Iron) in conjunction with the Intersafe Group are continuing to research whether constant four-wheel drive engagement is a contributor to roll-overs at mine sites.
